Rick Linforth

Rick Linforth is a British born and trained Consultant Breast Surgeon.

He works as a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and at the Ramsay Yorkshire Clinic, Bingley.Unlike many surgeons Rick spends 100 per cent of his time managing patients with breast disease or cosmetic breast issues,and is the Lead for Breast surgery in Bradford. He is also the Multidisciplinary team lead for the Breast cancer services.

Rick is a Member of the Royal college of Surgeons Edinburgh , the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, the Association of Breast Surgeons. He is a National trainer in breast surgery for the Association of Breast Surgeons at the Britsh Association of Surgical Oncologists. Rick has worked in the major teaching units of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds,Hull and Glasgow during his training, and was awarded the higher degree of Doctor of Medicine for his research in breast cancer.He attends and speaks at International Breast meetings in the UK, Europe and the USA. He is the Principle Investigator for the IBIS-II trial in Bradford. He was the first surgeon in the UK to develope immediate Breast reconstruction using Alloderm and Strattice.

What do the letters mean ?

MD: doctor of Medicine (a higher degree awarded to doctors who have completed a period of research after the submission of a thesis. Most UK doctors are MB a bachelor of medicine

FRCS (Ed) Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. The oldest of the four UK colleges.

FRCS(Gen Surg) On the Specialist register for General Surgery which is the surgical speciality responsible for breast disease and breast surgery. Other surgeons may be FRCS (plast) which means they are on the register as a plastic surgeon as oppose to a breast surgeon. Both types of surgeon perform reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery, provided they have been trained in this field.

Mr Linforth is fully trained in breast cancer, reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery.
